AN OLDHAM man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a Porsche ploughed into a lamppost.
The blue Porsche Boxster crashed in Greenacres Road, Oldham, at 2.10pm on Wednesday.
A 42-year-old man, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and sadly died.
Stephen Wilson (46), of Brideoak Street, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and driving while uninsured.
He appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court yesterday where he was remanded to appear before Minshull Street Crown Court on April 22.
Flowers have been left at the scene of the accident in tribute, though the victim has not yet been named by police.
Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic set of circumstances that has taken a man's life.
"Our thoughts are with his family and we have specialist officers working with them at this traumatic time.
"This happened on a busy road in the middle of the day when people would have been around and may have seen something.
"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time to please contact us. We would also like to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage of the collision."
