FIREFIGHTERS helped in a rescue mission after a cat got stuck in an extractor fan.
The small ginger cat had been stuck since Thursday and its owner, a middle-aged man, called on Oldham fire service's help to free him.
One crew turned out to the mid-terraced property in Lees Road just after 8pm yesterday and it took around an hour to release the trapped feline.
Crew manager Gaz Park said: "The owner came to the fire station telling us the cat had been trapped underneath the floorboards since last Thursday and asked if we could try to release him."
The crew tried to locate the cat under the floorboards but actually discovered him in a loft vent after removing the extractor fan.
Mr Park added: "The loft had been renovated and there was no access but we eventually helped him down.
"It was such a shame. He was probably the size of my hand and when he came out he was covered head to toe in dirt."
