LESS than a year after it opened, the Kids Around the Clock nursery in Chadderton has been classed as outstanding by national education inspection service Ofsted.
Inspector Julie Kelly found that the highly qualified manager Sherrean Taylor leads the staff team with remarkable enthusiasm and wonderfully inspiring practice in all aspects of the nursery. The 57 children aged two to four enjoy sharply focused activities which help them move on to the next stage in their learning.
The nursery's first inspection report found that youngsters are highly motivated and develop extremely positive attitudes towards learning in readiness for school. They benefit from a huge range of high quality resources and activities that capture their interests and motivate them to learn.
Housed in an old Victorian building in Main Street, the nursery opened last May. A delighted Mrs Taylor said: "To be honest our success is down to the team who have a lot of drive.
"We call ourselves a family and that is how we operate and we have a great deal of support from families and the local community."
The inspection found that children with special educational needs and those whose first language is not English are supported to the optimum level.
And bilingual staff are a superb asset to the nursery, telling stories and singing songs in children's home language which helps them make rapid progress in their communication and language development.
Youngsters are very happy and well settled in the nursery and demonstrate high levels of independence. Staff make excellent use of the outdoor area and encourage children to take part in active exercise.
The report said that the nursery's partnerships with parents, external professionals and other early years providers are outstanding which helps to promote excellent consistency and continuity of care and learning for children.
Build
Self evaluation is an ongoing process and is highly effective. It is sharply focused and takes into account the views of staff, children and parents.
To further improve the inspector recommends continuing to build on the outstanding targeted programme of professional development that drives and sustains the excellent practice of the highly skilled staff team.
