Beware scam on refunds

OLDHAMERS are being warned not to fall for a scam after reports of companies contacting residents offering a council tax refund.
Oldham Council has received reports of scammers cold calling and emailing householders asking for bank account details to provide a council tax refund.
Oldham Council and Unity Partnership (Oldham Council's service delivery partner) would never call or email residents to offer a refund and ask for bank details.
Anyone who receives an email offering a council tax refund is urged to delete it. the email. Similarly, anyone who is cold-called should hang up.
