Street thieves target old folk

POLICE are warning elderly residents out and about in Oldham to be on their guard following a spate of thefts.
Victims are being approached to change money or ask for directions as part of a distraction.
As this is happening personal items are being stolen from victims including items of jewellery and money.
In particular, this appears to be happening in Oldham during the daytime and early evening.
Officers are asking people to remain vigilant, warn elderly friends or relatives and report anything suspicious to the police.
