A FAMILY was left "shaken up" after their Royton home was targeted by vandals.

The Kinghorns and their two young daughters were watching television when they heard a "big crash" at their Rochdale Road house.

By the time Lee Kinghorn reached his smashed patio door the "unknown offender" had already made off.

Daughters Megan (13) and Evie (9) could not sleep in the nights which followed the unprovoked attack.

Lee Kinghorn said: "We were all in the lounge watching TV at around 8pm and there was a big crash. We didn't know what had happened.

"My main concern was my two children. They were really really upset.

"They are struggling to get to sleep at night.

"We are trying to keep an eye out and hoping they don't come back."

The family want to raise awareness after stones were hurled through their sliding patio door on Tuesday night (24).

Mr Kinghorn added: "There is a cut-through so we think they were walking passed.

"The doors are double glazed but the stones totally shattered the glass."

A pane of glass was broken in the incident and the area was boarded up to make it safe before new glass was fitted.

Mum Kirsty Kinghorn, of Rochdale Road, said: "We were all very shaken up by what happened and Evie in particular was very upset.

"I hope the group didn't actually intend to cause so much damage and to upset my children but I hope now they think twice before thinking it's funny to throw stones at people's homes.."

An investigation has been launched by Greater Manchester Police.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 and quote 2042 of January 17.
