THE funeral of two girls who died after an alleged hit-and-run on New Year's Eve is due to take place on Monday.
Cousins Helena Kotlarova (12) and Zaneta Krokova (11) were holding hands when they were hit by a dark blue Peugeot 807 at around 7.15pm in Ashton Road, Hathershaw, on Saturday December 31.
The car was later abandoned in nearby Honeywell Lane.
Helena - who attended Collective Spirit school - died at the scene of the tragedy, while Zaneta - who went to Oasis Academy - passed away two days later.
The funeral will take place at St Paul's Church, Ashton Road, at 11.30am.
Multi Car Parts Ltd, a family-owned network of seven car breakers' yards off Ashton Road, kindly offered to pay for the funeral costs.
Sallie Lou, an Oldham resident, set up a JustGiving campaign to support the family, which has raised more than £4,300.
Four men were arrested in connection with the incident. Gabor Hegedus (38) was charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, driving without a licence, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report the collision.
David Orsos (18), Janos Kalanyos (50), and Zoltan Peto (49) were charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
They were remanded in custody and will next appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on February 1.
