Date published: 05 January 2017
POLICE are hunting callous burglars who broke into a Saddleworth home in Christmas Day and took their pick of family Christmas presents.
The incident, revealed in the latest crime figures by the neighbourhood policing unit for Saddleworth South, happened at a property in Manchester Road, Greenfield.
The offenders broke through a kitchen window in the dark and used a candle to check the living room where they selected items and used the luckless householder's keys to leave by the front door.
In another raid in Grove Road, Uppermill, offenders stole £800 from a woman's handbag and in a further incident a woman householder gave chase after finding a young girl in her bedroom. The intruder escaped.
There were half a dozen car and other vehicle thefts during the month.
