HEAVEN has gained two more angels.
Those are the heartbreaking words of Kieran and Charlotte Royales who just days earlier were celebrating the very early arrival of their beautiful twins, Daisy Eleanor and Eric James.
Last week the Chronicle told how the babies - who earned the title of "Christmas miracles" - not only arrived four months early but there was over two days between Daisy, who was born on Christmas Eve, and her brother who was born on Boxing Day.
But just days later the fight for survival was too much for the tiny pair and they passed away in Royal Oldham Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit on Friday.
A devastated Kieran said: "It is with the greatest sadness in our hearts that Charlotte and I have to announce our beautiful Christmas miracles were unable to continue their fight. Eric James fell peacefully asleep at 1:15am and Daisy Eleanor fell peacefully asleep at 1:50am.
"Charlotte and I would like to thank everyone for all their prayers, messages of support and kind words over the past few days. We are happy to know they will be together once again causing mischief and that heaven has gained two more angels."
The Shaw couple, both teachers at Middleton Technology School, added that they wanted to say a big thank-you to the staff from the neonatal unit for being "fabulous and very supportive".
