TWO fire engines remain at Maple Mill more than a week after the blaze there began.
Fire chiefs say the crew will stay at the Cardwell Street site until the fire is completely out.
Firefighters are digging out waste material and damping down after the incident, which has destroyed the former cotton mill in Hathershaw.
There is still smoke in the area and Public Health England has advised residents that overnight they should keep doors and windows closed.
During the day, if smoke is visible outside, they should keep windows and doors closed.
