MAGGIE'S Oldham got a little extra help from these pint-sized volunteers.

Youngsters from Wild Things Drama helped to entertain shoppers and drum up a bit of cash for the charity which is building a cancer support centre in the grounds of Royal Oldham Hospital.

They were joined by dancers from Blades Academy and volunteers from Hulme Grammar School who helped raise £536 from bucket collections in Oldham town centre.

The new Maggie's centre will provide free practical, emotional and social support for cancer sufferers and their family and friends and is due to open early next summer.

Fundraising manager, Laura Tomlinson, said: "We want to say a huge thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers and the students from Oldham Hulme Grammar School who so kindly gave up their time to help us collect donations from the generous people of Oldham on Friday and Saturday.

"Thanks also to Wild Things Drama School and Blades Academy for providing some first class performances to entertain Saturday shoppers. Our thanks to everyone who stopped for a chat and to drop some coins in our collection buckets."

She added: "Once we open our doors in early summer 2017 the money raised will enable 180 people to walk through the doors of Maggie's and receive immediate advice and support from our cancer support specialist."
