MOTORISTS are ignoring traffic signs as they flout new road arrangements in Oldham town centre.
As reported in the Chronicle, the reopening of Greaves Street has seen Oldham Council put new traffic arrangements in place which effectively make Yorkshire Street a one-way system.
But drivers using Retiro Street are first ignoring huge lettering on the road saying "turn right" to turn left and then driving straight past a no-entry sign.
On two separate occasions, a Chronicle photographer caught several drivers breaking the rules in the space of five minutes.
Greaves Street had been temporarily closed for a number of months to allow for the transformation of the old town hall into a new Odeon cinema and restaurant complex.
Drivers using Greaves Street must now turn right down Yorkshire Street and all access to Church Terrace is via Lord Street.
Traffic on Retiro Street must turn right down Yorkshire Street and traffic on St Mary's Way must turn left down Yorkshire Street.
Traffic wanting to access Queen Street from St Mary's Way will have to use Waterloo Street and Union Street.
Traffic wanting to access St Mary's Way from Union Street will have to use Greaves Street.
