OLDHAM residents are being urged to have their say in deciding what the priorities for Greater Manchester should be.
Initial reports from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority's (GMCA) Greater Manchester Strategy consultation show many residents believe the city-region's top priorities should be improving transport, protecting the vulnerable and ensuring young people have better opportunities.
Leaders are now asking Oldhamers if they agree and what they think is important to the city-region.
Councillor Jean Stretton, Oldham Council Leader added: "Oldham has a big role to play in the city-region so the views of our residents need to be heard and help shape its future priorities."
The Greater Manchester Strategy will set out GM's plan to create one of the world's leading city-regions with a thriving economy and aims to make the region a dynamic, innovative, creative place to live, work and invest in.
To make this vision a reality, Greater Manchester Leaders have started a city-region wide conversation to help shape the new Strategy and participants are able to give wide-ranging, general views on how they want to see Greater Manchester progress or discuss specific topics that matter to them.
Greater Manchester mayor, Tony Lloyd said: "As we pass the half way point we are beginning to get a sense of respondents' top priorities. Better transport, protecting the vulnerable and more opportunities for young people are among the most mentioned topics - but do people in Oldham agree?
"We need people in Oldham to tell us what they think to really make this a plan for Greater Manchester, by Greater Manchester."
Everyone who lives and works in Greater Manchester can have their say on the city-region's future online at greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk/greatermcr.
People can also give their views using #GreaterMCR and through face to face interviews.
