A PROMISE of more fun for young people has come with the awarding of a £4,600 grant to Fullcircle at the Yew Tree Club in Chadderton.

The money will mean that a range of activities will continue to be on offer for eight to 12-year-olds at the Alcester Street site.

Company director Dawn Fox said: "We are really glad to be given this money. Sometimes we have 50 to 60 kids coming in and this money will enable us to keep the doors open.

"We believe young people should have access to high quality youth work within their own community and that includes individuals with specific needs.

"This grant will provide children and young people within Chadderton the chance to take part in a range of activities."

Creative arts and crafts, traditional games and project work can all be enjoyed on the Friday night sessions.

Pool tournaments, a tuck shop, table tennis and games consoles are also available for youngsters to encourage personal, social and educational development.

Sessions, run by three qualified youth workers, volunteers and parents who live locally, take place between 6 and 7.30pm.

Fullcircle was awarded the special contribution of £4,600 from Oldham Kerrching's Youth Opportunity Fund which exists to benefit children and young people living in Oldham.

Ms Fox, who submitted an application for the fund in July, said: "The project will help youngsters boost their self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-confidence."
