STAFF from Innovative Technology won this year's Oldham Corporate Quiz, which raised funds for Dr Kershaw's Hospice and forms part of the Oldham Business Awards calendar of events.

Ryder & Dutton, who won last year's corporate quiz, were the runners-up while Oldham Coliseum came third.

Thirty teams representing businesses across the borough supported the fun quiz at White Hart in Lydgate, which was sponsored by Santander and Chadderton-based AMP Wire.

The victorious Innovative Technology team of Melanie Jones, Dayna Patterson, Gareth Owen and Damian Roach received the quiz trophy from Rob Dolan of Santander and Pam Pelham of AMP Wire.

Challenging

The event was hosted by Martyn Torr, of New Image, and supported by the voluntary steering group behind the Oldham Business Awards.

The night included rounds of questions on current affairs, music, sport and entertainment, goodie bags from Zen Office, a raffle and a hot buffet from the White Hart's award-winning chefs.

The event raised an estimated £2,000 for Dr Kershaw's and hospice fundraiser Angela Higham told guests: "This year has been especially busy for us, which is good but also challenging.

"We will help anyone at any stage of their terminal illness.

"Our Hospice At Home service was launched in February this year and we are now doing over 100 visits to look after terminally-ill people in their own homes, along with their families.

Important

"This is a hugely important additional service in itself - and it also prevents terminally-ill people ending up unnecessarily in hospital accident and emergency wards."

Martyn Torr reminded guests that the nominations phase of the 2017 Oldham Business Awards has recently begun and that all firms, large and small, can enter or become award and event sponsors.

"You may want to enter the awards yourself or nominate another client, supplier or contact.

Nominations

"There are a wide range of categories to suit all types of businesses and entrepreneurs, from start-ups to large, long-established firms."

Nominations can be submitted to the official Oldham Business Awards website between now and the end of December.

Judging will take place in the new year, followed by a shortlisted finalists' reception in the early spring and the main awards ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Hall next may.

That's a fabulous night with over 500 guests in attendance.

On award sponsorship opportunities, he added: "Some business awards are organised with three or four major sponsors. However, the Oldham Business Awards feature lots of businesses with each giving a little.

"It's a great way to promote awareness of your business, meet other businesses, judges and sponsors, and to celebrate the borough's business community."
