POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run collision on Friday afternoon that left a mother and her daughter in hospital with serious injuries.
Officers were called to Glodwick Road, near the Giggle and Grow Day Nursery, at 3.40pm and discovered that a car, a blue Mazda Coupe, had collided with a bus shelter and with two pedestrians, a woman aged 29 and a girl aged 11.
The family, from Ashton-under-Lyne, were taken to hospital with the woman treated for leg and pelvic fractures and the girl for leg fractures and a laceration to her liver. They remain in a stable condition.
The driver of the Mazda and three male passengers fled the scene but police have traced them and they are helping police with their enquiries.
Inspector Arron Cooper of GMP's Oldham Division said: "I want to continue to appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or had dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to come forward.
"I urge people not to speculate on social media but to please pass on any information you may have to police."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1336 18/11/16 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
