FANCY a job on the buses? First Manchester has vacancies
JOBS are available for Oldhamers who fancy working on the buses.
First Manchester, one of the region's largest bus operators, is calling for male and female drivers to apply for a role at the business, where it currently employs over 1,500 drivers.
With 197 Greater Manchester drivers having been employed by the business for over 20 years, First Manchester is known for providing many of its staff with a job for life, and following recent changes that have seen additional services added to its remit, the business is on the lookout for more drivers to join its team.
Speaking about the vacancies available, Paul Townley, Rusholme operations manager at First Manchester, said: "Having joined the business over six years ago as a bus driver, I know first-hand how great this job can be for people looking for a new challenge.
"You're very much your own boss, as once you're in the driving seat, you're in charge of your day, and you get to meet so many different types of people, which can be more appealing than the type of job where you're stuck at desk from nine to five!
"There's also great development opportunities available for the right candidates.
"After 18 months of working as a driver, I was promoted to a supervisor position, and following that moved onto a staff manager, service performance manager, through to today where I'm the operations manager of the Rusholme depot. We also offer attractive benefits to our staff across the company, including a free bus pass for you, and your family, which not many people know about.
"We'd encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more to visit our website - and as long as you have had a clean car driver licence for 12 months and are over the age of 18, we will provide you with all the training you need."
If you're looking for a new challenge, and you currently hold a full UK driving licence, then visit www.firstgroup.com to apply for a position to become a bus driver.
