POLICE are appealing for information after a worker was tied up during a gunpoint robbery at a post office in Oldham.
Two men armed with a knife and a handgun entered the post office on Oxford Street, Werneth, some time between 8:30am and 8:50am on Saturday, October 15.
The man carrying the gun threatened the sole member of staff in there at the time and forced him to hand over a quantity of cash.
The member of staff was then taken in the back room where his wrists and ankles were tied together using cable ties.
The two offenders then left the premises and closed the shutters behind them, leaving the man tied in up in post office alone.
He was able to free himself some time later and alert the police.
Detective Constable Steve Gilliland, of GMP's Oldham borough, said: "This robbery has understandably left the victim absolutely terrified, as I'm sure anybody would be if they were threatened with a gun and tied up.
"I think the fact this incident happened at just before 9am on a Saturday morning makes it all the more worrying as there could have been any number of people nearby or actually inside the post office.
"I would like to urge anybody with information that can assist us to please come forward."
Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 771 of 15/10/16, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
