ACTRESS Suranne Jones brought a touch of extra glamour to the opening of a Royton beauty salon.
Scruples Beauty Lounge, in Rochdale Road, is offering some unique treatments and aiming to bring something special to Royton.
The Oldham-born actress, who trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop before shooting to fame as feisty factory worker Karen McDonald in ITV’s “Coronation Street”, conducted the official opening on Sunday.
Owner Natalie Cameron said: “Suranne was very interested in the salon and being a friend of the family said she would support us.
“It went really well. We had people in and out all day and it was really busy and we took lots of bookings. It was really nice.”
She worked with her mum Michelle — who has run the near-by Scruples Hair Salon for nearly 28 years — for several years before deciding to expand by starting her own business around the corner, using the same name to keep it in the family.
She added: “We are an exclusive salon as all the treatments and products are 100 per cent natural and organic. We are also a skin specialist and use Dermalogica products exclusive to us.
“It’s not just a beauty salon, it’s like a mini-spa. People can come and relax and enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake in a friendly, cosy atmosphere.
“We wanted to bring a bit of goodness to Royton and create a nice atmosphere. I’d like to thank my clients, family and friends for all their support.”
The salon, which has four staff, contains a French boutique and Zen rooms and special treatments include Indonesian manicures using hot stones, pedicures, hot stone massages, Dermalogica facials and design your own nail workshops.
