Maysand worked on historic pavilion in £44 million refurbishment of Lancashire ground
A ROYTON restoration firm has helped to preserve cricketing history at Old Trafford.
Building company Maysand has carried out a £60,000 conservation project on the pavilion’s famous facade, part of the ground’s £44 million facelift.
Maysand used sandstone from Staffordshire to complete repairs and restoration, as well as restoring lead on the turrets and the octagonal towers beneath them.
Maysand’s managing director Bryn Lisle said: “Old Trafford has undergone an incredible transformation.
“It is now a wonderfully modern ground but has retained some of its real history and character. We were delighted to have had a role in that.”
The Salmon Fields-based company was also responsible for restoring the lions in Alexandra Park during the near-£4 million refurbishment of the park.
