THE One Oldham Business Awards are now on Facebook.

New media is all the rage and with Facebook predicted to overtake Google — in terms of number of hits per day — in the very near future, Oldham’s premier business event is moving with the times.

The awards Steering Group, chaired by Steve Kilroy, from BAE Systems at Chadderton, has teamed up with Webvitality, from the Hollinwood Business Centre, to launch the new information stream.

Chris Buckley, the owner of Webvitality, is a firm believer in the power of the web and is convinced the awards will soon create interest on Facebook. Simply log on to www.facebook.com and key in The One Oldham Business Awards to get the link.

Chris said : “We wanted to help the awards and we believe that creating a Facebook page is a way of promoting the event and encouraging entries. There is little doubt that new social media will dominate in the years to come and we are looking forward to playing our part n the continuing success of the event.”

Entries are being taken on an almost daily basis for the third awards, which will once again be hosted by title sponsors NatWest, The Oldham Chronicle and Oldham Council at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, on Friday March 18.

Once again the leading lights of the Oldham business community will gather for a glittering night of celebrations.

The White Hart, Lydgate, has been awarded the catering contract and will provide a gourmet meal for the 450 sell-out audience.

Steve Lowe, NatWest’s relationship director in Oldham, said: “We are planning for another fantastic night. Everyone at NatWest is delighted to have played a part in making these awards a remarkable success.”

There is plenty of time to enter any of the ten open categories which can be found on www.oldhambusinessawards.co.uk or, if you prefer a traditional, printed entry form, please contact Steve Duthie on 0161 622 2159.

The closing date is Wednesday February 15.
