More ways to nominate

NOMINATIONS for the third One Oldham Business Awards — coming in online via the www.oldhambusinessawards.co.uk website — can now be made by third parties.

The new-look entry form allows customers, clients, friends or family to nominate a business, commercial office of industrial giant for one of the prestige trophies.

Members of the steering group, chaired by BAE Systems Chadderton site manager Steve Kilroy, have taken this step in response to calls from the borough’s business community.

Mr Kilroy said: “A number of people have been asking if they can nominate their favourite business — some are retailers and others commercial — and the general feeling is that we do not want to dissuade anyone from entering.

“The whole point of the awards is to recognise and reward the business people of Oldham and celebrate the fact that we have some fantastic businesses.

“The last two award dinners have been outstanding and 2011’s gala dinner on March 18 is already close to a sell out”

In the New Year, around 1,500 businesses on the council’s business data base will receive traditional and digital entry forms. The closing date for entries is the middle of February.

Added Steve: “There is no restriction on the number of categories that can be entered and remember, you have to be in it to win it.”
