Stepping through the doorway of what was once a bolt-making works to be transported into the cutting edge world of online software applications, the scale of progress in Oldham hits you between the eyes.
Oldham’s heavy manufacturing past is being replaced by new, high-tech businesses like Web Applications — heralding a new dawn for the Mumps part of the town centre.
Chief executive Craig Dean and his team glowed with pride as they welcomed the Oldham business community, including the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jim McArdle, and the Youth Mayor, Mohammed Adil, to the official opening of the renovated Windsor Works building in Gravel Walks.
Unveiling a plaque, Councillor McArdle commented on the changes that he had seen at Windsor Works over the years and praised Web Applications as a “young business bringing a much-needed boost” the area.
The company has relocated into the refurbished premises from the Hollinwood Business Centre.
Web Applications staff talked enthusiastically about the benefits of their new location and the planning that had gone into making their surroundings so pleasing an environment, saying how after a hard day the plush new boardroom was turned into a venue for a staff movie night.
And prior to that the glass-fronted space was the location for a Wii Wimbledon tournament.
