Food and drink festival of fun

SADDLEWORTH Food and Drink Festival is to be held on October 10-11 at Uppermill Civic Hall from 11am-4pm. Entry is free.
LYDGATE Band is holding a flea market at Uppermill Civic Hall on Sunday from 10am-3pm. Entrance is 50p with accompanied children admitted free. A few stalls are still available — call 01457-873 048 for further details.
THERE will be a temporary closure of Oldham Road in Uppermill on Wednesday, October 21, from 11pm to 3am for manhole replacement works. The closure will be from the junction with Chapel Road to the junction with Bridge Street, with a diversions in place.
THE Saddleworth parish of St Chad is holding a charity coffee morning on Saturday, October 3. Held at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Station Road, Uppermill, the event will begin at 10am to raise funds for the Genesis Breast Cancer Appeal. Entry is £1 per person.
A NEW set of stepping stones are to open in Uppermill tomorrow to connect the Sensory Gardens to Newbank Garden Centre. They will be officially opened at 2pm and a brass band will play to mark the occasion.
DENSHAW Village Cinema is staging a new version of Thomas Hardy’s Wessex romance “Far from the Madding Crowd” on Saturday, October 10. Viewings are at 6pm and 8.15pm. Tickets cost £5 per adult and £4 per child, or £4 for a season ticket holder. To book call 01457-870 348.
