Church calls tune for fundraiser

ZION Methodist Church, Lees, is hosting a musical evening tomorrow, featuring cabaret singer David Noble.


The event is to raise funds for the church and will start at 7.30pm. Admission is £6.


SADDLEWORTH Creative Network presents a free Autumn Handmade Festival tomorrow and on Sunday (11am-4pm) at Uppermill Civic Hall.



JOHN Garforth, Oldham Council trading standards and licensing manager, will attend the next meeting of Saddleworth Homewatch on Wednesday, September 16, from 7.45pm. The event will be at Uppermill Conservative Club, and the subjects of his talk will include control of opening hours, prevention of crime, public safety, public nuisance and child protection.



SMITHY Lane, Uppermill, will be temporarily closed from its junction with High Street to its junction with Bolton’s Yard on Sunday, September 20 (8am-4pm) for telecommunications work. Station Road will also be temporarily closed from its junction with Bolton’s Yard to its junction with Lee Street at the same time. Diversions will be in place.



LYDGATE Band is holding a flea market at Uppermill Civic Hall on Sunday, September 27 (10am-3pm). Entrance is 50p with accompanied children admitted free. A few stalls are still available. Call 01457-873 048 for further details.



THE Saddleworth Food and Drink Festival is to be held on October 10-11 at Uppermill Civic Hall (11am-4pm). Entry is free.
