THE inaugural service of the Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council, Councillor Neil Allsopp, will take place on Sunday at St Chad’s Church, Uppermill, at 11am.
The service will also celebrate the opening of the Saddleworth Arts Festival.
DELPH Band and Delph Youth Band are taking part in a special concert as part of the Houghton Weavers’ 40th anniversary tour. The concert is on Friday, June 19, at Uppermill Civic Hall, from 7pm. Tickets are £10 (£5 concession) from Delph and Uppermill post offices.
FRIEZLAND Primary School is holding a summer extravaganza to mark its centenary on Saturday, June 13. Taking place at Friezland School there will be a summer fair from 1-4pm followed by bands and a BBQ from 4 to 7pm. Admission is £1 for adults, children get in free.
ST ANNE’S Church, Lydgate, is holding a flea market at Uppermill Civic Hall on Sunday, June 28 from 10am-3pm. Entry is 50p. To book a stall contact Kath on 0161-624 1905
ANYONE aged 50 or over is invited to join Age UK for a scenic stroll every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm. The dementia friendly stroll will take place in Uppermill with the group meeting at the side of Warburton Court, just off Uppermill High Street, and take a short route finishing back at Warburton Court.
A PENNINE 1940s Weekend is coming to Uppermill with live music, a traditional tea room, real ale and good food. Hosted by the Church Inn, Uppermill, the weekend is for both military and civilian re-enactors and will take place from 11am-11.30pm on July 18 and 19.
