On Wednesday 25th May we held our monthly Come Dine evening at Valentino’s Ristorante on Retiro St in Oldham. It has been almost two years since our last visit and we were looking forward to returning to a familiar venue.
The restaurant is owned and run by Sebastian La Manna and has recently undergone a refurbishment to the downstairs area and it now has a contemporary and relaxing decor, which gives it a bright and airy feeling.
Chefs Mario La Manna and Michael Storto along with front of house staff complete the team.
The evening was fully booked, and on arrival the tables were set and Sebastian and his staff were there to offer a warm and friendly greeting.
Seats were taken and drinks arrived ready for the service of the meal.
On my table the Pate and Garlic Mushrooms were well received, these are a firm favourite and never disappoint. Chicken Cacciatore and Pork Loin in white wine, lemon and rosemary were our main choices and both though simple were cooked well, served hot and were tasty along with roast potatoes and vegetables. Apple Pie with cream and Chocolate Fudge Cake for dessert finished off an enjoyable meal. The atmosphere was lively and a few diners remained for coffee and drinks. Feedback from our diners was positive with both the atmosphere and food rated as excellent.
Valentino’s offer a Lunch Menu Monday to Saturday 11.30am to 2pm priced at £7.50 for one starter and one main and an Early Bird Menu Sunday to Thursday 5.30pm to 7pm priced at £11.90 for one starter and one main course.
Also available on the 26th June is a 9 course Gourmet Sunday Lunch starting at 1pm. Diners are served a selection of starters followed by lemon sorbet, and then have a choice two mains, this month’s choice being lamb or sea bass. A fresh fruit platter is then served and a little time is given before desserts and coffee are served. All this for £25 per head.
For bookings or for any further information about the offers please call Valentino’s on 0161 624 6002 or log on to www.valentinosoldham.co.uk.
