It's worth investigating in a breakdown service
Professional about cycling, David Wheeler cycles 30 miles a week and is a member of Saddleworth Clarion Cycling Club
Too many people the thought of breaking down either a puncture or a chain snaping fills them with dread and forces them the stay near home.
Help is at hand. With cars we join the RAC or AA so in the event of a breakdown they will get us going. Well, the same service is available for bikes at a fraction of the cost.
I have just renewed my cover, for all my bikes, it is £24.00 for the year. For this if I breakdown they will by taxi take me home or if I have come by car take me back to the car or a mailing rail station.
It is a great service, and although I have never needed it, the peace of mind that I will get home is good to have. All you have to do is phone them 24x7 and give them a location as best you can.
There are a number of companies that offer this service and the one I choose even includes overseas cycling. It is the sort of service that can open cycling up to everyone and there is no need to fear a puncture you cannot mend or something worse. The only exemption is you must be more than a mile from home.
It is a service that is well worth investigating.
Safe riding to all and give fellow cyclists a wave.
