There are plenty of cycling clubs around
Professional about cycling, David Wheeler cycles 30 miles a week and is a member of Saddleworth Clarion Cycling Club
While many of us enjoy a days cycling by ourselves as a way to relax and enjoy some solitude. A cycle club offers many benefits.
I have recently been to a great social night for Saddleworth Clarion Cycle club which was held at Donkeystone Brewery in Greenfield. There are many cycle clubs in our area. If you head to the British Cycling website and go to https://britishcycling.org.uk/clubfinder you will see what an abundance of clubs we have the area.
The clubs offer different types of riding and there is one to suit most interests and levels of riding. My own club offer both weekend and mid-week rides and road, gravel and mountain bike organised rides.
Gravel riding is the latest craze to hit cycling and in our area we have some great areas to ride. Gravel is the halfway between riding on the road and full mountain biking, using the traditional gravel roads and footpaths which our area has in an abondance. It was great see Leeds born Tom Pidcock who is already an Olympic champion and stage winner of the Tour de France winning the Strade Bianche in Italy which uses the famous white stone roads.
Whatever your style of riding, in a club or solo. Spring is now with us a now is the time to get on the bike.
Safe riding to all and give fellow cyclists a wave.
