Oldham Roughyeds are looking to progress to the Challenge Cup fifth round for the first time in six years with a win against Swinton Lions this weekend.
Unbeaten in 2024, after several games against higher opposition, Sean Long’s men go into the game at Heywood Road full of confidence.
Half-back Danny Craven hopes Roughyeds can replicate the spirit shown against Barrow Raiders in the previous round in order to progress.
“You don’t get a second chance in the Challenge Cup and that’s what we all said before the Barrow game,” he explained.
“You have to leave everything out on the field to get the win and that’s what we’ll be looking to do again.
“It’s another big game against championship opposition so we can’t be complacent like we were against Rochdale.
“I really believe in this team and if we play to our capabilities, which we’ve shown against Halifax and Barrow, I’ve no doubt we will get the win.”
Oldham have not registered a win over the Lions since a 28-20 victory back in 2021.
Playing in that side was Dan Abram, now playing for Swinton, who has been in hot form the for Lions thus far.
The full-back,who spent two years at Oldham between 2020 and 2021, has crossed the line four times this year leaving him just one try shy of his total for the entirety of the 2023 season.
Sunday’s game - which kicks off at 6pm due to Sale Sharks women playing at the same venue at 1pm - will be the second game, so far this year, involving Oldham broadcast live.
Long’s men will be cheered on by another strong away following with the YEDS Supporters Group coach already sold out.
Those who cannot get to the game, which kicks off at 6pm on Sunday, will be able to watch the game live on The Sportsman’s YouTube channel.
Admission prices for the game are priced at £20 for adults, £16 for concessions and £4 for under-16s.

Meanwhile, Oldham have confirmed that Nick Rawsthorne has left the club due to a change in work and family circumstances.
Since the arrival of a baby - as well as running his own business - Rawsthorne, a key member of last season’s squad, has found it difficult to commit to the club this year.
