Oldham are on the right track
Bill Quinn, chairman of born-again Oldham Rugby League Club, has told fans that the new board is on target in all areas of growth and ahead of target in many of them.
Delivering a Christmas message ahead of Boxing Day's first run-out for the 'new' side in a warm-up game at Keighley (1pm kick-off), the chairman said 2024 season-tickets were selling well; new head coach Sean Long and his staff were doing a 'fantastic job' in pre-season training; the club's lottery will be updated in the New Year; work on upgrading and improving training facilities at Melrose was continuing; the club was looking to improve and extend its off-the-field operation by appointing more staff, including a sales person.
He went on: "The team is gelling well.
"Cougar Park on Tuesday will be the first opportunity for fans to have a look at us and we hope as many as possible make the trip."
A 28-man squad, including 17 players who have never previously played for the club, has had a training session with Doncaster Knights RU Club, coached by Joe Ford, son of Mike Ford, the Roughyeds' managing director.
Winger Nick Rawsthorne, on e of the new board's early signings, said: "Every team in League One will look at the Oldham game as their cup final.
"I experienced this at Toronto.
"We must keep our focus in every minute of every game."
