Jordan Turner (34), one of many new signings, will captain new-look Oldham, his home-town club, in the 2024 Betfred League One season when rejuvenated Roughyeds will be going flat out for promotion.
"It made sense to appoint an Oldham lad with vast experience at the highest level and one who, in training, talks to the group well," said head coach Sean Long.
Turner, best known as an outside back, has spent most of his career at the elite level both here and in Australia and is thrilled to have joined at last the team from the town where he was born.
He is part of Oldham's coaching panel and is one of seven new signings on the squad's leadership group, alongside vice-captain Joe Wardle, Craig Kopczak, Elijah Taylor, Matty Wildie, Danny Craven and Logan Astley.
Said Turner: "This is a dream come true.
"I just wish my grandad was alive to see it."
Oldham, who have arranged a third 'tester' game against newly-promoted Super League Club, London Broncos, at Boundary Park on Sunday, February 4, (3pm kick-off), put season tickets on sale at 10am this morning (Thursday).
