Hot-property Logan Astley played for the crack Wigan Reserves team last season
Big-spending Oldham Rugby League Club, under new management and hell-bent on going places, have further strengthened an already hot-looking squad for 2024 with the signing on two-year deals of exciting young half-back Logan Astley from Wigan Warriors and big prop Adam Lawton (30), a 6ft 7” giant, from Widnes Vikings.
Hot-property Astley (20), formerly with Wigan St Patrick’s and Orrell St James, played for the crack Wigan Reserves team last season, and also had five games on dual-registration for Oldham in 2022 and 2023 and scored a total of ten tries.
Lawton, one of three Widnes players to join the Oldham evolution, scored three tries in the Vikings 42-20 win at Oldham in a pre-season game last Spring.,
“We want to build a squad that’s of Championship standard,” said chairman Bill Quinn, who, with managing director Mike Ford, will oversee the club’s permanent move next season to the town’s top stadium, Boundary Park, with its 13,500 all-seat capacity, a new £1m pitch paid for by the town council, a four-star rating by Tripadvisor and direct access off nearby motorway links.
