The Roughyeds remain hot on the heels of unbeaten leaders Dewsbury Rams and second-placed Doncaster
Thanks to right-wing Joe Hartley’s two tries in the last ten minutes, both goaled beautifully off the touchline by Martyn Ridyard in wet, drizzly conditions, Oldham picked up two precious points with a 28-18 win at Workington to consolidate third place in Betfred League One.
The Roughyeds remain hot on the heels of unbeaten leaders Dewsbury Rams and second-placed Doncaster.
Roughyeds trailed 6-0, 12-10, and 18-16 against a spirited Town outfit before Hartley scored his first try in the corner to put Oldham in front for the first time with only nine minutes left on the clock.
The scene is now set perfectly for a 3 v 1 showdown when Dewsbury are here next Sunday for a free-for-all match which looks certain to be a full house.
All fans will get in FREE as a thank-you by the club’s new owners for their loyaltyduring difficult times.
Oldham’s five tries at Workington were scored by Callum Cameron, Gregg McNally, Tommy Brierley and the two late ones by Hartley, but the stars of the show were prop Luke Nelmes and captain Ridyard, whose kicking game in wet conditions was exemplary.
