Head coach Stuart Littler has brought Oldham lads Harvey Wilson and Jacob Douglas into his 21-man Roughyeds squad to face Rochdale at the Vestacare Stadium tomorrow evening (Friday, 7:30pm kick off).
Wilson and Douglas arrive on dual-registration from Wigan Warriors and will join their Wigan teammates Logan Astley and Alex Sutton who remain with the club.
Wilson, a prop-forward, signed for Wigan having played for Saddleworth and Waterhead growing up and has impressed so far in the Warriors Reserves side.
Outside back Douglas, who also played for Waterhead, was promoted to the Warriors first team squad ahead of the 2023 season and featured for them in pre-season.
He arrives at Oldham on the back of a month’s loan spell for Whitehaven where he scored two tries for the second division club.
Littler is also boosted by the return of Dom Newton, who hasn’t featured for the club since he rolled his ankle during the warm-up against Wigan Reserves back in February.
Gregg McNally, who has struggled with a hamstring strain since the London Skolars victory, drops out of the squad.
Said Littler: “It’s a massive local derby and we’ve been working on things we identified in the North Wales game and how we can get better in our performance.
“No doubt, Rochdale will be pumped up for this one, Gary (Thornton) is a smart coach and a shrewd operator.
“He’s been around rugby league for a long time and he’ll be working hard to rectify some wrongs in their team as well, so we’re preparing for the best Rochdale Hornets on Friday.”
Tickets for the derby are priced at £16 for adults, £10 for concessions, £5 for students and FREE for under-16s and they can be purchased on Roughyeds' ticketing site.
Squad in full: Ah Van, Astley, Baker, Blagbrough, Carr, Douglas, Ferry, Hartley, Hirst, Meadows, K. Morgan, Nelmes, Newton, Paga, Ridyard, Slater, Sutton, Wellington, Whittel, Wilkinson, Wilson.
