Littler announces 21-man squad for Skolars game

Kian Morgan is back in the 21-man Oldham squad for this Sunday’s clash against London Skolars (kick off 3pm).

Centre Morgan missed the Doncaster game after he struggled to overcome a shoulder injury, but is now back in head coach Stuart Littler’s plans.

Also returning to the squad is Matty Wilkinson, who missed out last week due to a concussion sustained in the 40-22 over Wigan Warriors Academy.

To be included in the matchday 17, Wilkinson will have to pass a head test.

Harvey Makin, who played for Oldham last week on dual-registration from Wigan and scored a try, has gone back to feature in the Reserves side.

Littler has kept hold of Kian Tyrer and Alex Sutton, who are both included in his initial squad for Sunday.

With extra bodies at Littler’s disposal, and more competition for places, Ellis Keppel drops out of the squad.

James Thornton is included, despite picking up a one match ban against Doncaster, which will kick in for the North Wales game on March 26.

Head coach Littler said: “One lad missing out through injury, or getting a ban, is another lad’s opportunity.

"It’s early in the season and it’s the first league match.

"We’re excited for this weekend, and the year ahead.”

“We’ve had a chat on what went right and what we can get better at from the Doncaster game in training this week, and hopefully we will put that into practice this weekend.

“We’ve looked at Skolars and done our homework on them and we want to build on our performance last week.”

Emmerson Whittel and Callum Cameron are serving bans, and Dom Newton, Lewis Sheridan and Tommy Brierley are ruled out through injury.

Squad in full: Ah Van, Baker, Bardsley, Blagbrough, Carr, Ferry, Hartley, Hirst, McNally, Meadows, Morgan, Nelmes, Paga, Ridyard, Slater, Sutton, Thornton, Tyrer, Wellington, Wilkinson, Yarrow.
