Big prop Luke Nelmes, the Roughyeds' vice-captain last season, has re-signed for Oldham Rugby League Club despite an offer to move elsewhere.
In 65 Oldham games, Nelmes has scored nine tries and is looking to build on last season's play-off finish.
He said: "Another club came in for me, but after chatting with Chris (chairman Chris Hamilton) it was a no-brainer to sign again.
“I’ve had three years at Oldham and I’ve got a lot of respect for Chris and everybody else involved with the club.”
Coach Stu Littler said: "Luke gives us lots of experience.
"He's good around the group and he's part of our leadership panel.
"I'm delighted to have him for another year."
