Oldham RLFC Anniversary dinner guest speaker will be former St Helens and Ireland pack star Kyle Amor
Organisers have left no stone unturned in bringing to the Roughyeds a glittering array of new and up-and-coming after-dinner talent to entertain everyone at a one-off Oldham RLFC Anniversary dinner.
Guest speaker will be former St Helens and Ireland pack star Kyle Amor, rapidly making a name for himself as TV pundit, commentator, interviewer and after-dinner speaker.
Alongside him as MC at this prestigious event, held to mark the first 25 years of pro rugby league in Oldham under the 'Oldham RLFC (1997) Ltd' banner, will be another up-and-coming talent on the circuit - Pete Emmett from Halifax, who has already worked with the likes of Johnny Vegas, Mike Tyson, Dame Kelly Holmes and Sugar Ray Leonard.
VENUE: The Oldham Event Centre at Boundary Park, smart, welcoming with easy access off Broadway and loads of FREE car parking.
DATE AND TIME: Friday, November 25, 7pm for 7.30pm.
DRESS CODE: Preferably lounge suit -- either that or smart casual.
TICKETING: £35 a head including three-course dinner with coffee and mints; Kyle Amor; Pete Emmett; players and coaches in attendance.
Tickets can be ordered online, via the club website, or by a phone call to the Roughyeds office on 07904 898177.
It's many a year since Roughyeds had an event to compare with this and the club hopes it will attract a lot of interest, especially as it will mark a majestic milestone (the first 25 years of Oldham RLFC (1997) Ltd).
More on Kyle Amor and Pete Emmett:
KYLE: Aged 35, born in Whitehaven, a proud Cumbrian, early rugby at Hensingham, played for BARLA under-21s and BARLA open age, turned pro for Whitehaven aged 21, then full-time for Leeds Rhinos, three years at Wakefield, then £50,000 transfer to St Helens, where he spent eight years before going briefly to Warrington and then on to Widnes Vikings.
With Saints, he played in three Grand Finals, two Challenge Cup finals, more than 200 games in total, won a player-of-the-year prize in 2016 and played for Ireland five times, including a 2017 World Cup down under.
PETE: Did so well in his early days as comedian, compere, speaker and writer that he was quickly employed by Everton FC and Saints RL as a match-day host.
Pete can fill many roles. but his efforts for Roughyeds on this special night will be that of MC, a role he filled with his usual aplomb at the recent Players' Assn dinner at St Herbert's.
The well-known John Wilkin, once of Saints, England and Great Britain, said of Pete: "He is a legend of the lounges at Langtree Park.
"Hilarious comedian and a good friend of mine who has me and the rest of the lads in stitches after every match.
"He's a must-see act with vast rugby knowledge."
It's going to be a night to remember!
