Oldham's boss has described Wilkinson as a "Class-act"
Livewire hooker Matty Wilkinson has signed a new one-year contract at Oldham Rugby League Club.
Wilkinson (24), reared at Salford Red Devils, has already scored 21 tries in 60 games for the newly-promoted Betfred Championship side, going back more than three years.
"He has loads of potential," said new Oldham boss Matt Diskin, himself a class-act as a hooker with Leeds Rhinos in his playing days.
"We'll be bulking-up our front row next season and Wilky will find that beneficial when he's jumping out of dummy-half."
Wilkinson, who has also played for Halifax and North Wales Crusaders, said: "We're getting a good squad together and I think we'll have a really good dig in the Championship next year.
"It's a big step-up from League 1, but I like the look of the way our squad is coming together."
Signings to date include two new props in highly-rated youngster Tyler Dupree (20) from Leeds Rhinos and big Luke Nelmes (27), who returns to Oldham, where he became a fans' favourite in 2018, from Dewsbury Rams.
