Fielding an injury-hit side, OLDHAM RL Club dipped out of the 1895 Cup when beaten 24-12 by Doncaster at the Vestacare Stadium.

"Given the players we had out, it was a good effort," said chairman Chris Hamilton.

Among those missing were strong-running second-row pair Danny Langtree and Danny Bridge; leading try scorer Zack McComb, a centre; and half-back David Hewitt, who missed only his second game of the season.

It was 6-6 at half-time and Roughyeds did all the early attacking in the second half only to see a promising=looking attack break down and Donny half-back Watson Boas capitalise by going nearly the full length of the pitch to score on the counter.

That try turned the game on its head and the visitors won through to the last eight with two more tries in the next few minutes.

Adam Brook and Harry Maders scored tries for Oldham and Paul Crook converted both.

Next up for Roughyeds is an important Betfred League 1 clash next Sunday evening ---- at Doncaster.
