Rasool out, Johnson back for Roughyeds

Date published: 07 September 2018

Danny Rasool couldn't train last night (Thursday) because of the knee injury he picked up against Coventry Bears, so he isn't available for Oldham's big game against Betfred League 1 leaders York City Knights at Bootham Crescent on Sunday (3pm).

There was better news, however, of Kyran Johnson, who has recovered from a shoulder problem, trained normally and will be in the selection mix.

"Danny (Rasool) was the only one who didn't train so I'll be picking from 23 and I'll be making some changes," said head coach Scott Naylor.

The 23 will comprise of the 17 who were on duty for the Coventry game last Sunday, minus Rasool, plus Johnson, Dave Eccleston, Matt Reid, Steven Nield, Dave Hewitt, Liam Bent and Zack McComb.

Asked if the players were ready for one of their biggest games, and toughest tests, of the year, Naylor said: "They certainly are.

"They're a good bunch of lads and they've trained well all week.

"We've got by far the third best for-and-against points record in the division and there's nothing to speak of between York's defensive figures and ours.

"Our overall figures are top-three figures and that's a big positive.

"We are down in fifth because we haven't taken chances to finish teams off and we haven't won a close game all season.

"Let's hope the first is on Sunday."

FANS are reminded that tickets for next week's game against Bradford Bulls at the Vestacare Stadium (3pm) will be on sale from Monday to Friday next week between 10am and 3pm, cash or cheque only.

The game is NOT all-ticket but seat tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Standing tickets are on sale to avoid congestion at the turnstiles which open at 1pm.

The other thing to note is that you can only get into the social club from INSIDE the ground.

FANS are also asked to sign up for the OuRLeague app, for FREE, because future RFL funding will hinge to some degree on the number of OuRLeague members we have.

When signing up please make sure you let it known you support Oldham.
