Latics beaten by strugglers Woking

Jermaine Anderson notched the only goal as Woking triumphed 1-0 at Latics.

Woking boosted their National League survival hopes with their narrow win at Boundary Park.

The Cards, on the back of a three-match losing run, started brightly as an angled shot from forward Dennon Lewis went wide before Latics midfielder Tom Conlon sent a free-kick just over the bar.

Woking saw a goal ruled out late in the first half from a header by Scott Cuthbert for offside in the build-up.

But the visitors took the lead a minute after the restart through Anderson, which proved enough to secure a crucial three points and move Woking out of the relegation zone, above Ebbsfleet United on goal difference.

"It's a bad day at the office that we have to now put behind us and move on and keep trying to improve - that's all we can do," said Latics boss Micky Mellon.

Latics are back in action on Saturday when they travel for a televised game at Ebbsfleet.
