Latics' interim boss Steve Thompson
Latics have revealed that 'a number of applications' have been received as the hunt for a new permanent first-team boss continues.
Boundary Park chiefs are currently recruiting for the position vacated by David Unsworth last Sunday, following a dismal start to the National League season.
This afternoon (Thursday) a Latics club statement read: "The Board of Oldham Athletic can confirm that a number of applications have been received for the vacant position of first team manager.
"At a Board meeting held this week, a recruitment process was agreed upon and will be followed over the coming weeks.
"The Board wants to ensure the process is thorough and that the merits of all candidates are properly considered.
"In the meantime, Steve Thompson will continue to take charge of first team matters on an interim basis.
"The Board would like to thank Steve for his work in doing so.
"The club aims to make an appointment as quickly as possible once the identified process is complete."
