Latics condemn pitch invaders after Norwood stuns Spireites with late, late leveller

Latics snatched a late draw at high-flying Chesterfield
Summer signing James Norwood netted an equaliser deep into stoppage-time to dramatically rescue a point for Latics as they drew 1-1 at National League table-toppers Chesterfield.
The goal - scored at the end housing travelling Latics fans - prompted a pitch invasion which was subsequently condemned by the visiting club.
A Latics club statement - issued a couple of hours after the final whistle - read: "Oldham Athletic condemns any encroachment onto the field of play and the use of pyrotechnics.
"As a club, we pride ourselves on the passion of our supporters but the behaviour of everyone representing our club must remain lawful at all times.
"We will co-operate fully with all investigations made."
Yesterday (Sunday), a Derbyshire Police spokesperson added: "An investigation is underway into pitch incursions and fighting between a small number of spectators towards the end of the Chesterfield v Oldham match.
"CCTV and other footage will be reviewed by our dedicated Spireites football policing team and we will pursue any appropriate action."
The visitors started the brighter of the two sides and almost had the opener, but Norwood headed just wide of the target from inside the area.
Chesterfield then had a great opportunity to hit the front just after the half-hour mark, only for Branden Horton to smash a volley over the crossbar at the back post.
The hosts hit the front in the 61st minute when Ash Palmer's bullet header met a corner at the back post and flew in.
The Spireites almost had another when Liam Mandeville hit the crossbar and thought they were on their way to four straight wins but, deep into added time, Norwood pounced on a rebound and turned home to finish things level at 1-1.
Latics are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Boreham Wood.
