Latics lost on the road again - this time at Halifax
Latics are still looking for their first away victory of their National League campaign after they were sunk by fellow strugglers Halifax.
The hosts prevailed thanks to sub Rob Harker's late winner - a goal which enabled Halifax to leap-frog Latics in the table.
Following a goalless first half in which clear-cut chances were at a premium in a BT Sport-televised clash, Halifax took the lead in the 64th minute.
Manny Dieseruvwe got on the end of Luke Summerfield's free-kick to send a diving header past Magnus Norman.
Latics drew level 13 minutes from time following good work by debutant Timmy Abraham, to send the almost 3,000-strong travelling army wild.
Abraham did well to keep possession before putting in leading scorer Ben Tollitt with a clever back-heel that the former Tranmere forward dinked past Sam Johnson.
Halifax would not be denied, however, and they snatched victory five minutes from time.
Harker got on the end of a right-wing cross from Tylor Golden and beat Norman with a side-footed shot which bounced off the ground before flying into the roof of the net.
Latics boss David Unsworth said: "I don't want to sound disrespectful, but I felt so sorry for our fans here.
"I don't know what to say to them."
Latics, who are now just two points clear of the National League drop zone in 19th place, return to action next Sunday when they travel to Wrexham in the first round of the FA Cup.
