Latics saw off Doncaster 2-0 last night
Latics have sealed their place in the knockout stage of the EFL trophy with a group stage game to spare.
Last night's 2-0 home victory against Doncaster was a second in two group matches, so progression is assured ahead of the final scheduled clash away at Bradford City on November 10.
Danny Rowe and Zak Dearnley were on the mark for Harry Kewell's side as they gear up for Saturday's home League Two encounter against Morecambe.
Latics came close to taking the lead early in the second half through substitute Dearnley.
Bobby Grant floated a cross to the back post, but Dearnley's header looped just past the post.
At the other end Sido Jombati cleared Cameron John's effort off the line.
Kewell’s side made the breakthrough in the 67th minute when Rowe curled a super free-kick over the Rovers wall and into the corner of the net.
Latics sealed victory with minutes left as Ben Garrity did well to race down the left flank and pull the ball back to Dearnley, who blasted his effort into the top corner to confirm the hosts' first win against Doncaster since November 2016.
