Oldham Athletic’s Head Coach has declared himself pleased with his sides 2-0 friendly victory at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Latics started much the brighter against their higher league opposition, who were making their first outing of the pre-season having seen their last campaign end disappointingly outside the playoff places in the Championship, and the visitors got their reward just five minutes into the game.
New signing Keillor-Dunn’s header got Latics off to the perfect start.
Oldham Athletic sealed the win with only half an hour on the clock as Zak Dearnley turned from provider to scorer as he met Keillor-Dunn’s ball before finding the back of the net.
Speaking after the game, Kewell told the club’s official website, he’s liking what he’s seeing:
“The players were excellent. They followed the instructions to a tee and again it was a great test for us. It was Nottingham Forest’s first game so there was a bit of fitness involved but I thought my players were excellent and I enjoyed it.
"I look at the instructions that I gave my players and if they have fulfilled them and they did, so I was only looking at a few things and I achieved that today, so I was very pleased.
"Again, we keep working and working on our structure and we keep putting players into positions where they can feel a little bit uncomfortable, but once they feel comfortable, they will enjoy the ball more. The way that they played means that I’m very pleased.
"The most important thing in football is that you work hard and what these players are doing is working hard and that’s why they're creating chances. So, it's not just that they're turning up for a game it's because they're putting it in since day one.
"And, I will continue to push them, but we've just got to keep our feet on the ground and keep going because this is a friendly game and now we move on."
