Defensive midfielder Mohamad Sylla is set to put pen to paper on a deal at Boundary Park
Athletic are understood to be on the verge of strengthening both their defence and midfield options.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, defensive midfielder Mohamad Sylla is set to put pen to paper on a deal at Boundary Park.
The 25-year-old has been plying his trade at Sannois-Saint-Gratien in the French Championnat National - the third tier of professional football in France.
The newspaper is reporting he’s signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with Athletic and quote him as saying: “A dream comes true, loose the interested, already on the spot.
"Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to see a game at home, it’s crazy the number of spectators and the craze that exists here.”
So far there has been no word from Athletic to confirm the move.
It won’t be the first time Athletic supporters will have to learn a new French name.
Since taking over at the club a year ago, owner Abdallah Lemsagam has signed Johan Branger from Championnat National 2 side FC Dieppe.
Meanwhile, Athletic have confirmed striker Ishmael Miller has left the club.
The 31-year-old forward joined the club in summer and made 18 appearances, scoring four goals for Athletic in all competitions.
