Athletic are on the verge of completing the signing of highly-rated Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge on loan.
The 20-year-old had been on a number of Football League clubs ‘wanted lists’ during the summer following his successful loan spell at fellow League Two club Yeovil Town, but Athletic boss Frankie Bunn appears to have won the race for his services.
Surridge, who has come through the ranks at Premier League Bournemouth, is yet to make a first-team appearance for Eddie Howe’s side, but made his EFL debut as a second half substitute against Luton Town on the opening day of last season.
He went onto make 53 appearances for the Glovers in all competitions, finding the back of the net on ten occasions.
The length of the loan spell is yet to be confirmed by Athletic, but it’s thought the former Weymouth and Poole Town loanee could be staying at Boundary Park until at least the New Year.
The move will be seen as a major bonus for Bunn as he continues to add to his squad ahead of the opening game of the League Two season at home to Milton Keynes on Saturday.
