Oldham's defensive frailty cost them dear at Rotherham as the hosts dominated the second half to seal a comfortable win.
Honours were even in the first half with Michael Ihiekwe scoring for Rotherham and Craig Davies equalising for Oldham.
Four second half goals, two from Kieffer Moore, and one each from Anthony Forde and Jerry Yates, gave Rotherham the points and piled the pressure on Oldham who remain bottom of the table with just four points from their opening nine games.
Oldham manager John Sheridan made one change to the side which was beaten by league leaders Shrewsbury Town last weekend; Tope Obadeyi replacing the suspended Eoin Doyle.
Ihiekwe gave Rotherham an early lead with a header from right on the line after Moore headed a corner against the crossbar.
Midway through the half Latics were level as a Jack Byrne corner found Davies and he curled the ball beyond Marek Rodak in the Rotherham goal into the top corner for his fifth goal in five games.
The second half started as it was to continue with Rotherham pressing hard and Oldham defending deep.
The pressure told when with fifteen minutes to play the first of four second half goals was scored by Moore. A good run and shot by Ryan Williams could only be parried into Moore's path by John Ruddy in the Oldham goal and Moore made no mistake to give Rotherham the lead.
Moore got his second, from a corner, just minutes later when he rose above the Oldham defenders to head past Ruddy.
Two more goals within two minutes of each other sealed a dismal afternoon for Latics.
The first when Joe Newell laid the ball back to Forde, whose well placed shot from inside the penalty area found the back of the net.
Rounding off the scoring was substitute Yates with a tap in from close range.
